Appraisal results speed up Yemen’s Oil Search

OIL Search and its partners in the Nabrajah oil discovery in Yemen have accelerated their development plans for the field after it flowed almost 10,000 barrels in tests from two formations in the Nabrajah-5 well.

The joint venture said the next well to be drilled will be Nabrajah-6, a dedicated Qishn formation water injector.

“Due to the positive and conclusive results from DST-2A, the Block 43 JV has determined that the second planned test over the 42 metre gross hydrocarbon zone, seen in the Kohlan dolomite on electric logs, is now not required,” an Oil Search report said.

"Nabrajah-5 will be suspended and preserved as a future Basement and Kohlan oil producer."

The Kohlan Formation flowed a stabilised 4180 bopd while the Basement test flowed 5800 bopd.

Following Nabrajah-6, a Basement appraisal program will be undertaken which could include the drilling of up to four additional Basement targets in 2005.

Interests are DNO ASA 56.67% (operator), Oil Search (Yemen) Limited 28.33% and The Yemen Company 15%, carried.
